LISA LESLIE
b. 1972
Gardena, California
Basketball player
When you think of the WNBA, Lisa Leslie is one of the first to pop into your mind.
At 6'5, Leslie immediately established her dominance on the court. Showing promise at a young age (she scored 101 points during a high school game), Leslie enrolled at USC (like Cheryl Miller did almost a decade before), where she was named College Player of the Year in 1994.
After graduating, she was drafted into the WNBA by the Los Angeles Sparks. While there, she added two WNBA championships and three MVP awards under her belt. But perhaps her most significant milestone is being the first woman to dunk in a WNBA game.
