Cheerleaders

Isis, Jenelope, and Lava are three cheerleaders from the East Compton Clovers team in LA. The cross-town team, The Toros, secretly attend Clovers' games to record their cheer routines and implement them into their own.

The Clovers spend the entire film addressing the pervasive trial of Black women being at the forefront of everything new and fresh, but rarely recognized for it. Our work is only acknowledged when it's co-opted, or, in the case of this film, literally stolen.

Ultimately, The Clovers came out on top and won Nationals.
