b. 1956
Lone Tree, Oklahoma
Lawyer, Professor
Anita Hill is currently a professor at Brandeis University, teaching Social Policy, Law, and Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies. Before that, she studied psychology at Oklahoma State University, and received her J.D. at Yale.
In 1991, Hill testified in front of the Senate Hearing Committee that Clarence Thomas, a Supreme Court nominee at the time, sexually harassed her while working with him at the Department of education and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Discredited and maligned on the stand, Hill remained resolute, despite Thomas denying everything and ultimately being confirmed as a Supreme Court Justice. Her testimony has been critical in discussing justice for survivors, particularly in the workplace.
