Tarana Burke's support and advocacy for survivors isn't new - she's been crafting her skills as an organizer and supporter for decades.

In the '90s, Burke worked at various youth organizations that focused on women of color, often hearing stories from survivors. These stories would ultimately influence her drive to start the Me Too movement, which encouraged survivors to share and use "empowerment through empathy."

She also co-founded a program for girls called Jendayi Azam, which eventually grew to JustBe, Inc., her non-profit.
