Singer, songwriter, producer, actress

Mariah Carey is one of the best-selling artists of all time, with the most #1 Billboard hits of any solo act (19). Her riffs, runs, and whistle register have been in our ears since the early '90s, and in 2020 she became the first artist to have chart-topping hits on Billboard across four decades (1990s, 2000s, 2010s, and 2020s). And we all know what happens when the clock strikes 12:01 the day after Thanksgiving🎄.

Her debut album, Mariah Carey, was the best-selling album of 1991, stayed on the charts for 11 consecutive weeks, and won her a Grammy for Best New Artist in 1990. For the remainder of the '90s, Carey released hit after hit with "Emotions," "Fantasy," and "Always Be My Baby."

Underrated, however, is her impact on crossover music. Carey has seamlessly blended R&B and hip-hop for decades, creating songs that connect multiple genres. The clearest example of this is her wildly famous "Fantasy (Remix)" featuring Ol' Dirty Bastard, despite much hesitation from the label of 'damaging her brand.'

In 2005 Carey dropped The Emancipation of Mimi, which became her fifth #1 album. "We Belong Together" stayed on the charts for fourteen weeks, making this her 16th chart-topping song.

Recently, her memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey, became a New York Times bestseller within the first week.
