In this remake of a classic, The Wonderful World of Disney and Rodgers & Hammerstein released Cinderella in 1997. Brandy is the titular character, making her Disney's first Black princess. Natalie Desselle plays her step-sister, Whoopi Goldberg is the prince's mother, and an aptly cast Whitney Houston plays the fairy godmother.

The movie, also co-produced by Houston, secured 60 million viewers and earned the praise of the most-watched television musical in decades.
