Girlfriends follows four late twenty-somethings in Los Angeles as they navigate work, relationships, and most importantly - friendship. Joan, Toni, Maya, and Lynn have distinct personalities, and even though we might not want to be friends with them (😅), we still love watching them.

Girlfriends aired on UPN and found massive success amongst the 18-34 Black demographic. It ran for eight seasons and became the longest-running live-action sitcom on network television at that time. It also has another immediately recognizable theme song sung by Angie Stone.

Its spinoff, The Game, followed Joan’s cousin, Melanie (Tia Mowry).
